On a Sunday morning there’s hardly a place as pretty or relaxed to have breakfast and coffee than Odette’s, perched on the Prinsengracht canal, whether you sit on the terrace with a view of the water, or at one of the wooden tables in the middle of the lively café bustle. Odette Rigterink has always been driven by a deep passion for good food. At the Buffet she uses only organic produce and even makes the mayonnaise for her sandwiches herself. The delicious dark bread is sourced from the Hartog bakery, who specialize in whole grain products, and the apple cake is delivered by De Taarten Kamer. It is pure bliss to look out of the friendly, bright café over the canal with a mouth full of sticky toffee cake, and plan further adventures in the city. Should you have difficulty leaving the place (we know we did), simply come back in the evening for an aperitivo, reserve a place at the bar and enjoy selected cheeses and pate with organic wines.
