No unnecessary squiggles, yet in return cricket memorabilia and a wonderful mix of patterns: the mother hotel of the famous Firmdale Group with houses in London and New York has a great combination of British understatement and cool posh. In this cosy oasis in Marylebone it is obviously more intimate than in the other houses. Flowers, dots, checkers and colourful country style, furnished by Firmdale owner Kit Kemp herself and decorated with modern art. The cheaper rooms are very small and many only have a shower, ask for one with a bathtub! The in-house bar is a good place for a drink and the Potting Shed restaurant serves top-class, modern British cuisine. It is also worth passing by for a stylish afternoon tea.
