The construction alone is worth visiting the Eye Museum. In the booming north of Amsterdam, directly on the waterfront on the old Shell site, the museum moved into the new building in 2012. Modernism is not only taken seriously from the outside, the exhibition itself also uses state-of-the-art presentation techniques. The use of screens is impressive, sometimes several films run parallel, resulting in completely new, different contexts, and the museum not only archives the exhibits, but also places them in their own context.
The museum’s collection contains around 46,000 films, 35,000 film posters and 450,000 photographs – mostly from Dutch collections.
