The König Galerie proves how wonderfully art and church can harmonize together. The gallery owner Johann König has leased the St. Agnes church in Kreuzberg. Even a visit to the 1967 building, designed by Werner Düttmann, leaves an impression: concrete, concrete, concrete, metres long. Actually, the church alone looks like an object of art – the steeple of the church is strikingly stretched out in an area of unadorned prefabricated buildings. Artists like Jorinde Voigt and Jeremy Shaw have shown their works here. Erwin Wurm and Katharina Grosse are other names of the contemporary art scene represented by the König Galerie.
