The Gasthof Stanglwirt with its legendary cowshed window is famous far beyond the Tyrolean border. Here you can not only look forward to a delicious cu(h)linarian experience, but at the same time exchange eye contact with the happy cows in the barn. As famous as the cowshed window at the inn is, what is even more amazing is how it came to be: The conversion revealed a window to the cowshed on the north side, which the well-known architect Albertini from Wörgl wanted to have bricked up immediately. But Alois Hofer, the father of today’s Stanglwirt Balthasar Hauser, argued for the retention of the window despite the architect’s objections and thus created a new eye-catcher. Despite initial odour problems, the hall conversion finally succeeded perfectly and the stall window became a groundbreaking attraction. And the nice thing is, not only hotel guests are allowed to dine here in the parlour, but also external guests.
