Hôtel Les Deux Gares

The Hôtel Les Deux Gares is a wonderful choice for anyone who loves Paris and has a penchant for good design. Situated between Gare du Nord and Gare de l’Est, this small boutique hotel surprises guests with a decidedly quirky, colourful interior. The man behind it is British designer Luke Edward Hall, who has worked here with bold colours, geometric patterns, stripes, floral fabrics and a rather wild mix of antiques and contemporary furniture. The result is a skilfully staged blend of styles, with plenty of British humour and a touch of French eccentricity. The rooms are on the small side, but every corner is packed with a creative idea. Particularly lovely are the bold wall colours, the patterned carpets and the lovingly curated details. Opposite is the hotel’s own Café Les Deux Gares, a charming Parisian bistro serving classic dishes, fine wines and featuring décor that echoes the hotel’s playful style. The area around the two stations is lively, international and, in places, a little rough round the edges, but many interesting districts of Paris are within easy walking distance. The Hôtel Les Deux Gares is particularly convenient if you’re arriving by train at Gare du Nord and want to be at the hotel just a few minutes later. For such a unique and skilfully designed hotel, it also offers excellent value for money.
