If we had to recommend just one restaurant in Brussels, it would definitely be La Buvette. Because all the criteria that make a moment special are combined here. La Buvette is located in a former butcher’s shop, almost entirely tiled from floor to ceiling and partly mirrored in Art Deco style. The original meat hooks have been retained and hang from metal girders across the room to remind guests of the former life of this place. Guests here are offered a unique tasting menu, which can be served in L – 6 courses for €49 – or XL – 9 courses for €64. The chef works with seasonal ingredients, sometimes inspired by more Japanese combinations, sometimes by traditional recipes from Alsace, the region where he comes from. Two classics that never disappear from the menu: the iconic spinach with ricotta and black sesame and the delicious black chocolate cake with praline biscuit, which is no less heavenly. The rest remains a surprise. Be sure to book early as space is very limited.
