In 1945, Alexandre Micka opened a bakery in Saint-Tropez and, in addition to various types of pastries, offered a cream cake that he created according to a recipe from his Polish homeland. When the patissier provided Roger Vadim’s film crew with his delicacies on a daily basis in 1956, he was particularly pleased with this cake. Brigitte Bardot herself suggested the name “Tarte de Saint-Tropez” to Micka. A little later, the baker acquired the patent for the name “Tarte Tropézienne”. Once you have finally got hold of one of the coveted tartes in the shop, it is wonderful to enjoy it on the market square while watching the petanque players.
