Lucien is an institution among brasseries in New York. The East Village eatery opened in 1998, but it seems like Lucien has been around much longer. Highlights include the lapin a la moutarde, rabbit in Dijon mustard sauce, and the duck liver mousse with pink peppercorns and cornichons. The narrow, warm room is decorated with all sorts of paintings from France, and the crowd changes from an older group of regulars in the early evening to a younger crowd later in the evening. There is always something going on at Lucien and it is fun to make people watching!
