Ten years in the making, in June 2009 the museum opened the world’s largest collection of works by the artist. Spanning six, high-modern floors in a snow-white palace from the 18th century, the collection includes some 200 paintings, drawings, posters, sculptures and painted vases, plus photos and films and his life as well as manuscripts and personal letters. In the summer, the museum café has a nice secluded terrace and in the museum shop get everything your Surrealist heart could wish for. Tip: Rather than standing in the long line at the museum entrance, just go to the basement where you can easily buy your own tickets at rarely used machines.
