The Nationalmuseum of fine art is situated on Blasieholmen and displays first class collections of Scandinavian and European painting and sculptures from the sixteenth- right through to the twentieth-century. Swedish greats like Anders Zorn and Carl Larsson as well as Rembrandt, Rubens, Renoir, Degas, Gauguin belong to the great masters of art who can be admired here. The permanent exhibition “1900-2000” revolving around Swedish design, is also especially interesting. It explains the major role applied arts played in Swedish culture.
