In the immediate vicinity of the Karolinenhof is the Ökohof Kuhhorst, although one can speak of a small eco-village. A large part of the people working in Kuhhorst are disabled people, who work by hand in the keeping of animals as well as in the production of pasta, pastries, jams, soups and meat products and sell them in the farm shop. Kuhhorst is known for breeding the endangered saddle pigs Ökohof Kuhhorst.
