As soon as the first aperitif is served, the host and cookbook author, Livio Parisi, radiates an inviting cosiness. It is hard to imagine the enthusiasm with which he grabs the microphone to entertain his guests with karaoke interludes. The typical orange walls are decorated with photos, medals and bottle openers, just like in Italy. However, the Osteria al Pescatore’s high degree of popularity is not due to the doll’s house flair, but rather to the authentic and excellent work of the kitchen as well as to the landlord Livio. Livio is always a well dressed man and an expert on fish from Lake Garda. As the Osteria only serves freshly caught fish, there is no menu. Every day Livio puts together a surprise menu based on the fish caught during the day. While walking, one hears another guest say that there is nowhere else a restaurant where he likes to leave 50 euros for a menu as in the Osteria al Pescatore.
