Pasticceria Russo

The Pasticceria Russo, existing since 1880 and hardly changed since then, is definitely worth the detour from Catania to Santa Venerina. Just to see the original look of 1880 with dove-blue painted walls, golden stucco and a picture of grandfather on the wall! The showcases are full and colourfully filled with the finest Sicilian delicacies and behind the counter is usually Anna Russo, the third generation to run the Pasticceria with her siblings Salvatore and Maria. The cannoli, quarters and hand-painted marzipan fruits are prepared every day in their own bakery according to traditional family recipes. And of course there is also a heavenly selection of Granita, which is served here not with a classic brioche, but with a delicious and mostly oven-warm Cornetti al miele.
