The Plachutta is known for the best beef dishes in the city, however the owners are real cut-throats. Order a portion of “Tafelspitz” (boiled beef) for two people, and as punishment you only receive one slice of meat instead of the usual two – plus you have to pay for tap water. They call it “Granderwasser”; supposedly “gilded” in a special filter and costing 50 cents. Nevertheless, the house cookbook, “100 Classic Austrian Recipes” is highly recommended. The interior is old-fashioned 80’s.
