The Prado in Lisbon’s Baixa quarter is the showcase Farm-to-Table concept of the local gastronomic scene. Prado does not only stand for “meadow” in Portuguese, it also conjures up plenty of greenery and freshness on the plates. The ingredients for the dishes come from a network of farmers, fishermen and wine suppliers from the surrounding area. The chef António Galapito, who previously worked in London, has managed to ensure that all the dishes on offer are prepared using 100 percent Portuguese ingredients. No distinction is made between appetizers and main courses; instead, orders are made according to mood. Vegetarians should not miss the beetroot carpaccio with goat cheese and walnuts and meat eaters should not miss the Beef Tatar from Barrosã beef.
