Stampa is an institution in Basel’s gallery scene. It was founded more than 50 years ago by Gilli and Diego Stampa and has been showing contemporary art ever since. Artists such as Marlene Dumas, Marcel Odenbach, A.R. Penck and Pipilotti Rist have started showing their art at the beginning of their careers here. The gallery also hosts performances, book presentations and seminars. Stampa is open-minded and always cutting edge, collaborating with the Basel School of Design as well as University of Zurich’s Department of Art History. Attached is a great bookshop for art, photography, design and architecture. Since 2009, the gallery has also been collaborating with the music store Plattfon.
