Behind a simple façade in Lindenstraße, the fire is blazing: Stoke is Berlin’s new address for modern yakitori cuisine, naturally Japanese in look, but refined in taste. Skewers of chicken, vegetables and mushrooms are cooked over glowing Binchotan charcoal, accompanied by broths, pickles and surprising snacks. The menu is solid, the atmosphere lively but never loud. If you get a seat at the bar, you sit right next to the grill and right in the middle of the action. Plus: fine highballs, good music and a trio of hosts who know what they are doing.
