You basically sit in the backdrop of “Sex and the City and “Mad Men”, next to Tom Ford or star architect Richard Meier – and in the restaurant of Vanity Fair publisher Graydon Carter who in 2009 took over the legendary spot in Elysee Hotel with some friends. Together they restored its fabulous decor with the red leather couches and the famous murals from Edward Sorel – originals from the 1930s. The phase where the quality of the food was lagging behind the interior has been overcome. New chefs are being involved and the classics, which range from steak, lamb and oysters to pastas, are perfect. As are the cocktails and the selected wines. You shouldn’t have fear of contact in the casual atmosphere here, and often you can get hold of a table via OpenTable.com.
