Tomates Verdes is based on the Hollywood movie ‘Fried Green Tomatoes’ and is supposed to sum up the philosophy of the place: Freshness and pleasure. Behind this modern restaurant is the Castilian chef Carlos and the Madrilenean-born Jorge. The menu is particularly creative, however, as the restaurant on the Placa d’Espanya’s carefully prepared bistro cuisine is a delight to the eye. These include homemade tapas such as steak tartare with fried quail eggs and fish roe, croquettes stuffed with Iberian ham, carpaccio of sea bass or octopus tentacles served on delicious potato mashed potatoes.
