Behind the Tulsi Shop is Deborah Nolan and her passion for textiles from India, Vietnam, South America, Africa and Mexico. After a nomadic life in these very regions of the world, the world traveller came to rest in Salento and Tulsi was born. More specifically, Deborah has transformed the front of her house into a small boutique. Tulsi is an unusually beautiful mix of clothing and handicrafts. The individual pieces come straight from the source – Deborah selects the treasures from local weavers and artists. The beautiful, handmade cotton kaftans, which are often made from fabulous block-printed or hand-woven cotton fabrics, are particularly beautiful. Incidentally, the name Tulsi is derived from an Indian herb, a type of basil, which is used exclusively for puja and prayers in India and is placed on the temple as an offering.
