The café describes itself as one with quality-oriented coffee – you can taste the gentle preparation in their in-house organic roastery and the credo of offering every guest a very special coffee experience! They have dedicated themselves entirely to the subject of coffee. That’s why the waiters are not called waiters, but baristas – i.e. “coffee artists” at the espresso machine.
Also fun: the espresso bike. It can be hired for various events. For non-Cologne residents, the mobile bar is on Rudolfplatz on Wednesdays and on Severinskirchplatz on Fridays, both at eco-markets. Of course, how could it be otherwise? Because the Van Dyck has sustainability and fair trade written all over its business card.
The bar is not particularly cozy – the walls and floors are tiled in 1950s style and the light from the lamps does not look very inviting at first glance. But it’s all about the coffee and you can quench the thirst of your trained coffee taste buds quite often.
