Situated in perhaps the toughest neighborhood of Miami, Wynwood has defined itself as an artistic oasis—and along with it came Joey’s, a pioneer from the get-go. Ensconced within the raw and commanding factory complex of the Performing Art Center, the restaurant offers possibly the hippest atmosphere for serving up American cuisine. It’s most appealing on the terrace; perhaps not suprisingly, the patrons appear more conservative than the dramatic surrounds. The cooking is good, but it’s not the primary reason to seek this place out; the whole area is exciting and it’s simply fun getting to know this new side of Miami.
