The Hotel Tótem Madrid could have sprung from a Fitzgerald novel. If you check in here, you can look forward to a journey back in time to the twenties. The rooms, which are more Scandinavian-modern in style, are a little out of the ordinary – lots of wood, simple luminaires, intense colours – but that’s perhaps just as well. But our favourite place in this hotel is definitely the bar with the deep blue velvety sitting area, golden lights and a long bar. It’s hard to walk past this bar without having a nightcap drink. And of course it is served in the style of the 20s in heavy silver cups.
