Blumental am Engelbecken in Kreuzberg is the green oasis that Berlin needed. Simon Staudigl and Maximilian Kocher have created a light-flooded café in an old brick building that impresses with its urban charm and sustainability. Plants dominate the space and the sun-drenched windows create a relaxed atmosphere – perfect for breakfast or lunch. The menu is predominantly vegan and offers delicious pink pancakes with sour cherries and beetroot reduction or carrot salmon on sourdough bread with pea guacamole. The zero-waste concept is special: vegetable waste is processed in the restaurant’s own composter and distributed to the neighbourhood. The symbiosis of sustainable concept, stylish interior and warm atmosphere makes Blumental a real hotspot in Kreuzberg – and soon sparkling wine will also be served here.
