The Capriolenhof is an absolute must for cheese lovers. When Hans-Peter Dill came to Berlin from Switzerland in 1984, he was horrified that there was hardly any sensible cheese. Together with his wife Sabine he moved to Brandenburg after the fall of the Wall. There he keeps 150 goats in a nature reserve at the Regow lock, which are fed with high quality food. They nibble on pines and clover, birches and heather and are kept outside for four hours a day. And this is exactly what makes their milk incomparable. Sabine makes 20 different kinds of cheese from it, which bear names like “Berliner Brikett” or “Blühende Landschaften”. This creamy variety is sometimes made with lavender, sometimes with nasturtium or rose petals. It’s no wonder that people at the farm shop find it difficult to make a decision.
