The Cervejaria Trindade, an old brewery, stands today as an impressive beer hall with typical blue and yellow Portuguese tiles on the walls. It seems to be the Portuguese answer to Munich’s Augustiner Bräu beer hall. The brewery was built in 1836, within what remained of the walls of a convent destroyed by an earthquake. Each day locals and tourists swarm into the rustic hall, to eat lobster or steak with individually packaged bread on plastic plates, or simply to drink beer! It is certainly worth a visit even just to see the hall itself.
