The interiors and atmosphere in Freemans are simply outstanding. Even the entrance, hidden in the back courtyard, is suggestive of the rural world. This aesthetic is invoked throughout in a manner which comes across as very self-conscious, however which, to the credit of the designers, is perfectly executed down to the smallest detail. The mood created is like a good ol’ American hoedown in the middle of Manhattan. That’s just as well, since there’s often a long wait for a table. Fine weather opens access to the idyllic courtyard however, and with the New Museum practically next door, waiting doesn’t often mean much of a problem. The kitchen offers a tour through the favourite meals of our time, from dishes of chicken and rosemary to the ubiquitous burger. In addition one can enjoy the refined brunch, served daily.
