When you enter Frenchette, it seems as if it has always been there – a kind of modern brasserie that fits into the cityscape in the middle of Tribeca as naturally as a classic in a closet. It’s not about show, but about substance: butter-tender duck frites with crispy skin, chicken rôti to share, mille-feuille straight out of a picture book. Riad Nasr and Lee Hanson (who are also behind the classics Balthazar and Minetta Tavern) cook French food with attitude – honest, sensual and with a wink. Those who get a seat at the bar often stay longer than planned. And will be back soon.
