The Hotel Gabbia d’Oro is just as baroque as the Ristorante Castelvecchio – only more conservative. The rooms are nevertheless an eccentric decoration celebration. In addition, the location is fantastic: in the middle of the old town of Verona, the hotel is located in a 18th century palazzo.
The opulent interior design and the soft lighting sometimes remind of 1001 nights. Many different old objects have been combined into atmospherically dense rooms. The oriental carpets, fabrics, wooden ceilings and frescoes also create an intimate, fairytale-like atmosphere. Comfort, on the other hand, falls short of decoration in terms of price – especially in the bathrooms. A quick, refreshing shower in between is unthinkable in many rooms. Certainly not a hotel for pragmatic fans of cleanliness and order. But those who like to be enchanted by atmospheres and are looking for a central starting point to discover and enjoy Verona are in the right place at Hotel Gabbia d’Oro.
