Juma Hotel

For us, the Juma Hotel is one of the most charming places to stay right in the heart of Pollença. This small hotel has stood on the Plaça Major for over a hundred years and has retained something that many of the island’s modernised hotels have lost: that wonderfully old-school Spanish character. Dark wood, classic furniture, traditional tiles and rooms that are more reminiscent of a well-kept town hotel of yesteryear than the latest over-designed boutique hotel. That is precisely what gives it its charm. In the morning, you step outside and find yourself right in the middle of the square, sipping your first café con leche amongst the locals and getting a real sense of everyday life in Pollença. A major plus is the Club Pollença right next door, with its beautiful historic interior, cinema, exhibitions and cultural events – for an aperitif or a simple dinner, you practically just have to step through the door. And the price also makes the Juma appealing: double rooms cost around 100 euros depending on the season, which is now almost a rarity for this location in Mallorca. A laid-back, very personal spot for anyone who’d rather stay in the heart of a traditional town than in the nearest ‘perfect’ design hotel.
