Bar Mercantil

The Mercantil Bar has played a major role in putting Felanitx firmly on Mallorca’s culinary map. It is run by the team behind the nearby Hotel Sant Francesc and Can Ferrereta in Santanyí, who have not simply created a typical hotel outpost here, but a vibrant hub for the town. Housed in a historic building right on the market square, Mercantil combines a café, restaurant and bar under one roof. High ceilings, old stone walls, large windows and an open-plan layout create an atmosphere that feels both Mallorcan and international. The mix of guests is particularly delightful. At the tables, locals sit alongside creatives, designers, artists, weekend visitors from Palma and international Mallorca connoisseurs who discovered Felanitx for themselves long ago. In the morning, the day begins with coffee and pastries; at lunchtime, seasonal dishes are served; and in the evening, the bar fills with people dropping in for a glass of wine or a cocktail. The cuisine is based on the island’s produce and remains pleasantly uncomplicated. The real appeal, however, lies in the atmosphere. Mercantil feels like a natural part of the town and, at the same time, like a place where you can meet people from all over the world.
