By chance you can’t get past the Kaisermühle, because although it is only 1.5 hours away from Berlin, it is well hidden in the forest. If you leave the motorway, the paths quickly become narrower, sometimes they are unpaved forest paths and it seems more and more incredible that one of the best restaurants of Brandenburg hides here in this seclusion. But then the forest thins out and offers a view of the yellow half-timbered house that once served as a grain mill. Constanze Mikesa has transformed the mill into a restaurant and hotel. The 14 guest rooms have a playful design and not everyone’s taste, but this loses its significance when, for example, you try the cold melon soup with grilled halloumi or sheep salmon in plum jus with beans and bacon potatoes. Only dishes that are compatible with the Slow Food concept are on the menu. These are regional specialities, some of which come from your own garden, others from the adjoining forest or the surrounding farms.
