Just next door to the Cadier Bar of the Grandhotel, Mathias Dahlgren, one of Sweden’s best chefs, opened his new gourmet temple. There are two different cuisine concepts, both of which are also reflected in the impressive interior design by the English designer Ilse Crawford. “Matbaren” is more relaxed, offering fresh-from-the-market cuisine, medium sized, creative and quickly served for lunch or dinner and because you cannot make a reservation, the chances are good of getting a table. However, if you go to the elegant “Matsalen” you should take the whole evening off. The imaginative, multiple course menu accompanied with wine by Mathias Dahlgren has to be slowly enjoyed. Making a reservation is required because the restaurant is often booked out.
