The Palazzo Braschi, dubbed “the museum that tells the story of Rome” (1600 – 1800), awoke from a fifteen- year nap in the spring of 2002 and threw open its shutters overlooking three piazzas: Navona, San Pantaleo and Pasquino. The museum’s collection of over 100 000 works is a reminder of the papal nepotism and Baroque pomp and ceremony surrounding the project by architect Cosimo Morelli, which was commissioned by Pope Pius VI. Paintings, sculptures, engravings, drawings, photographs, ceramics, furniture and clothing are displayed in rotation in temporary exhibitions linked by the theme ‘Com’ eravamo’ (“The way we were).
