When Volker Warning discovered the former vicarage, it was love at first sight. But it was to take another twelve years before he and his wife Frîa Hagen acquired the 19th century building in the village of Mödlich and repaired it. In order to restore the late Biedermauer style of the building as true to the original as possible, they used traditional craft techniques and building materials such as clay and solid wood. On the 330m2 they furnished three holiday apartments in rural style with floorboards, tiled stoves and fireplaces. They combined these rustic elements with light colours and modern furniture. The result is airy yet cosy apartments. The huge parish garden with a pond, ancient trees, a playground and a fireplace adjoins the parsonage Mödlich.
