Often described as an art oasis the Frick Collection in New York is one of the worlds most famous private collections. It is located in a neo-classical mansion close to the museum quarter in Manhattan. Frick resided here until he died. During this time he established his private art gallery, which now gives us the possibility to enjoy masterpieces of western art from the renaissance to the late 19th century in this magnificent but almost domestic atmosphere. Of the best are, for example, Rembrandt’s “Polish riders” and Vermeer’s “Soldier and the smiling girl”.
