Masseria Le Carrube

Masseria Le Carrube is situated just a few minutes outside Ostuni and is one of those places that truly captures the tranquillity and countryside of Apulia. Set amongst centuries-old olive trees, dry stone walls and the carob trees that give the estate its name, the whitewashed buildings of this historic masseria have been restored with great restraint. Natural stone, lime plaster, linen and simple wood characterise the rooms and suites, without overemphasising their rural origins. Everything feels light, bright and natural. A particular highlight is the strictly vegetarian cuisine – still something of an exception in Apulia. Vegetables from the estate’s own garden, herbs, pulses and seasonal produce take centre stage. Even die-hard meat-eaters will find little to miss here, as the dishes are flavourful, creative and deeply rooted in regional cuisine. In the mornings, an exceptionally good breakfast awaits, featuring homemade cakes, fresh fruit and local specialities. The pool is nestled peacefully amongst olive groves, with views stretching out across the rolling hills surrounding Ostuni. Despite its proximity to the ‘White City’ and the beaches of the Adriatic coast, the masseria feels pleasantly secluded. For those not seeking a spectacular design spectacle, but rather an authentic place with plenty of atmosphere, good food and relaxed hospitality, this is one of the most harmonious masserie in the region.
