Between Deichtorhallen and Baumwall, situated in the Freihafen is the hundred year old Speicherstadt, the worlds largest coherent warehouse complex. The Victorian brick, gothic architectur with its strange gable and turrets today still serve as a warehouse for first-class goods like coffee, cocoa, tea, tobacco, spices, computers and is the worlds largest oriental carpet storage. The Speicherstadt is one of the main attractions on the big harbour tour. With small barges and the right tide you can get really close up to the building through narrow canals and admire the architectural details.
